BIOGRAPHY
Neus Mínguez Nicolau is a Spanish saxophonist from Xixona (Alicante) who has established her artistic career in Amsterdam. She began her musical journey at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música Guitarrista José Tomás (Professional Conservatory of Music Guitarist José Tomás) in Alicante, graduating with a professional degree in saxophone and finishing with cum laude honors.
Following her move to Amsterdam, Neus has collaborated with numerous talented musicians across diverse projects. A career highlight was her premiere performance of Guillermo Lago’s ‘Tres Rondalles Valencianes’ with the Banda Municipal (Municipal Wind Band) of Alicante. In addition, she co-founded ‘MusicaLorca’ alongside SonetoDuo, blending music and poetry in performances throughout Europe. She also leads her solo project, ‘Voices in Melody’, which blends sacred medieval melodies, Andalusian influences, and contemporary compositions to create an immersive musical journey for her audiences.Deeply inspired by flamenco music, she skillfully merges traditional elements with contemporary sounds in her projects.
Neus has graced stages at esteemed venues such as Het Concertgebouw and Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in classical saxophone at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam under the mentorship of renowned saxophonists Willem van Merwijk and Arno Bornkamp.
